Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams is not like other top receivers in that he is generally a quiet person who doesn’t do too much trash-talking. But he won’t stand for disrespect either and isn’t afraid to speak his mind when he feels it is necessary.

Of course, the Los Angeles Chargers are one of the Raiders’ biggest rivals, and their social media team recently added a little spice when they posted a picture of Adams next to a box of ‘garbage’ Pop-Tarts.

This did not sit well with Adams at all, and he would send a warning to the Chargers’ social media team to show him proper respect in an interview on the Up and Adams show with Kay Adams via Ben Strauss of ClutchPoints:

“It’s not the players’ fault because they didn’t have anything to do with the post,” he told Kay Adams. “This is directed strictly toward the Chargers’ social media page: Please keep my name out of your mouth and show some respect.”

There is nothing wrong with a little trash talk, but calling Adams ‘garbage’ is pretty insulting. While he is coming off a down season by his standards, he still finished with 103 catches for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns, an outstanding year for almost anyone else.

And while Adams did consider responding to the post on social media, he thinks it would be more satisfying to do his talking on the field:

“I thought about responding [to the Chargers] on social media and being funny there, but I figured it would be better to just beat their head in in real life and continuing to do it that way,” Adams said. “I just want to remind them of what they’ve been going through as it pertains to playing against me.”

While it might not be the players’ fault, it is them who will have to face Adams on the field, and that hasn’t gone well for them lately. Since joining the Raiders Adams has totaled 34 receptions for 494 yards and four touchdowns in four games against the Chargers.

Perhaps poking someone who has been unstoppable against your team for the last two seasons wasn’t the best idea for the Chargers. But the Raiders will undoubtedly take that extra motivation from their star.

Davante Adams ‘loves’ O’Connell as Starting Quarterback

Now, who will be throwing Adams the football in 2024, that is still up in the air. The Raiders have a big quarterback battle between Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew II, and Davante Adams apparently has his preference.

Early reports were that O’Connell and Minshew have had their moments, though O’Connell has been more vocal in his second season. The report added that Adams loves O’Connell, which aligns with what he has said publicly about the second-year man. That could certainly give him an edge in this quarterback competition.
