The Las Vegas Raiders suffered their first loss of the 2023 season when they were blown out by the Buffalo Bills, 38-10.

The Bills were coming off a stunning Week 1 loss to the New York Jets and clearly had some frustrations to get out as they proceeded to obliterate the Raiders defense. Josh Allen had no trouble finding receivers open as he completed 31 of 3 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns.

On the other side, Jimmy Garoppolo found it much tougher to complete scoring drives as he just mustered 185 passing yards and one touchdown against two interceptions. Garoppolo was without Jakobi Meyers who was placed in concussion protocol following their Week 1 win over the Denver Broncos, so most of the targets went Davante Adams’ way.

However, Adams was forced to leave the game late after taking a hit to the head and was also placed in concussion protocol. According to Josh McDaniels, though, Adams is fine via Paul Gutierrez of ESPN:

“Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams is “good” after being evaluated for a concussion after Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, coach Josh McDaniels said Monday.”

It’s unclear if this means that Adams will be available for Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but nonetheless, it’s good to hear that he avoided a major injury. Garoppolo tried to hit Adams on a deep route, but the receiver collided with safety Taylor Rapp on the play.

Adams was able to get up after the hit, but referees sent him to the blue medical tent for evaluation. He was later sent to the locker room, though it didn’t matter as the game was well out of hand by then.

Concussions have always been a hot topic for the NFL as players have called for teams to be more responsible with their health. In this case, it sounds like Adams was able to go through the concussion protocol without any issues, but it remains to be seen if he’ll suit up against the Steelers.

Davante Adams reacts to Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles injury

Adams is fortunate to have escaped the Bills game without a serious injury, though the same can’t be sad for his former Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles against Buffalo and was ruled out for the remainder of the year.

The star wideout reacted to the news and admitted that it was really tough for him to see Rodgers go down the way he did.
