Sebastian Janikowski Reaches Agreement On Contract Situation

The Oakland Raiders have had one of the most eventful offseasons in recent memory as the team was granted permission to move to Las Vegas. However, they were also able to acquire Oakland-native Marshawn Lynch, stabilizing a questionable backfield after the departure of Latavius Murray.

Contract disputes were an issue throughout the summer as Derek Carr and Donald Penn were both question marks to begin training camp. However, Carr eventually inked a five-year extension and Penn returned to camp in hopes of reaching an agreement.

While most of their offseason drama has concluded, the Raiders still had an issue with long-time placekicker Sebastian Janikowski. The former first-round pick was reportedly asked by the team to restructure his contract amid age and back concerns, to which he initially refused. However, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, it appears the two sides have come to an agreement:

By agreeing to rework his contract, the veteran kicker will remain with Oakland for the foreseeable future. Janikowski has already stated he would like to kick for the team when they move to Las Vegas and it seems he will get his wish.

With Janikowski still in tow, the Raiders will look to once again display their electric offense for the 2017 NFL season. Carr looks healthy and the receiving corps led by Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree is one of the best in the league, so it is likely we will see Janikowksi converting plenty of field goal opportunities as the season goes on.
