Richie Incognito Originally Moved To Las Vegas To Root For Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders are feeling very optimistic going into the 2020 season after a successful offseason in which they added a number of talented players to the organization while also locking up some of their own.

One of their first moves early in the offseason was signing starting left guard Richie Incognito to a two-year contract extension after a solid first season with the team.

Incognito’s turnaround both in life and on the field in recent years has been nothing short of remarkable as he has become one of the most vocal leaders in the Raiders’ locker room.

He found himself out of the league completely a couple of years ago though due to some off-the-field issues. He recently revealed in an interview with Vic Tafur of The Athletic that he bought a place in Las Vegas during that time so he can root for the Raiders:

“My dad and I got a place there in 2017,” Incognito said in a phone interview on Wednesday. “We moved there to be Raiders fans when I retired. We said, ‘If we’re going to follow one team, we’re moving to Vegas to follow the Raiders.’”

Instead of rooting for the Raiders in Las Vegas, Incognito will now have the chance to play for them as they look to get back to the postseason in 2020.

While he has only played one season with the Raiders, Incognito recognizes how special the fan base is and how much it would mean to them to have a winning team in 2020:

“My one year in Oakland was just so special,” Incognito said. “Playing there in that stadium … I had been there in 2016 when Derek (Carr) was having his MVP campaign, and the fans get on you and don’t get off. But coming back and having them behind you was incredible.

“Raider Nation is strong wherever we go. I couldn’t be more proud to represent them.”

The Raiders’ offensive line, which consists of Incognito, Kolton Miller, Rodney Hudson, Gabe Jackson and Trent Brown, is arguably the best in all of football.

That should help lead to more points for the offense with some new skilled position players in place, and ultimately lead to more wins for Incognito and the Raiders this upcoming season.
