The Oakland Raiders traveled across the pond to take on the Chicago Bears in Week 5 and while they got off to a good start, the second half saw them blow a 17-point lead. The Raiders have been relentless all season long though, and they came up big when they needed to, resulting in a 24-21 victory to move to 3-2 on the season.
The Raiders got the ball first to start the game, and although they put a solid drive together, a costly personal foul penalty by Richie Incognito cost them the opportunity at three points.
After a Bears punt though, the Raiders put some points on the board with a 10-play, 90-yard drive that was capped off by a 12-yard touchdown run by Josh Jacobs to give Oakland an early lead.
Nick Morrow came up with a big interception on the next Bears drive and the Raiders took advantage as DeAndrew Washington punched in a touchdown from three yards out, extending the lead to 14-0. That lead was extended to 17-0 going into the halftime locker room.
The second half was a lot different than the first half though, starting with a big fumble on the Raiders’ first drive as Derek Carr’s pitch to Josh Jacobs was wide, setting the Bears up in the red zone.
They took advantage, scoring their first points on the day on a touchdown run by David Montgomery to cut the Raiders’ lead to 17-7. After a punt by the Raiders, the Bears put together a 12-play, 89-yard touchdown drive and suddenly the lead was cut to three.
After yet another Raiders punt, Tarik Cohen returned it 71 yards to set his team with good field position. They cashed in with a touchdown on a circus catch by Allen Robinson one play later, resulting in their third straight touchdown drive to give Chicago its first lead of the day at 21-17.
It appeared the Raiders were on the verge of disaster as Trevor Davis fumbled on the Bears’ 1-yard line on the ensuing drive, but the defense came up with a big spot to give the offense one more chance.
Carr came up with his best drive of the day, 13 plays and 97 yards capped off by Jacobs’ second touchdown of the day to help the Raiders regain the lead at 24-21 with 1:57 left in the game.
The Raiders’ defense needed to come up with one more stop to secure the victory, and they did exactly that as Gareon Conley picked off Chase Daniel to seal it.
