After nearly half a year of drama, the Las Vegas Raiders and Josh Jacobs were finally able to come to an agreement on a one-year deal worth up to $12 million.
Jacobs had been away from the Raiders throughout the majority of the offseason as he and his camp tried to negotiate a lucrative long-term deal. However, the two sides were unable to come to an agreement in July which meant that Jacobs could only sign a one-year deal ahead of the 2023 season.
Fortunately, both Las Vegas and Jacobs got what they wanted, and they are now set to go into the new year on the same page. While it might not have been the contract that the star running back was hoping for, he does get a pay raise in 2023 and the opportunity to seek out a new deal when free agency begins again next year.
Raiders fans are surely happy to see Jacobs officially back in the fold, and they’ll have more to look forward to as he’s set to don a new jersey number via Raiders:

In the clip, Jacobs can’t help but show his excitement and disbelief at the No. 8 printed underneath his name. The running back mentioned he had grown up wanting to wear the number and now that dream becomes a reality as he’s set to wear it in 2023.
This isn’t the first time that Jacobs has worn No. 8 as he also sported at Alabama during his sophomore and junior seasons. The return to his collegiate number is sure to excite fans, and Jacobs appears ready to pick up where he left off last season.
Dolphins inquired about trading for Josh Jacobs
Although Jacobs eventually agreed to a one-year deal, his immediate future with the Silver and Black was definitely in doubt. With Jacobs continuing to hold out, it opened the door for other teams around the league to inquire about his availability.
One such team was the Miami Dolphins who reportedly called the Raiders to ask about potentially trading for Jacobs. However, Las Vegas apparently told Miami that Jacobs was off the table which suggests that internally they were confident that he would eventually return to the team prior to the start of the season.
