The Las Vegas Raiders could be among the most active teams in the NFL during this offseason. The team failed to live up to expectations last season and now is making moves, with the latest being a trade to send offensive tackle Trent Brown to the New England Patriots.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Raiders reportedly traded Brown back to his former team early on Tuesday morning.

The Raiders signed Brown in 2019 after he won a Super Bowl with the Patriots as one of the key pieces of Tom Brady’s protection on the offensive line. He cashed in on his success in New England, inking a deal with the Raiders, which netted him nearly $38 million in guaranteed money.

Brown will now go back to New England to help Bill Belichick’s offense get back on track after one of its worst seasons in recent memory following Brady’s departure to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This is an interesting move for the Raiders as they lose one of the best tackles in football. However, Brown could only play five games last season as his health and dependability have become an issue.

Although this does impact the team’s protection for Derek Carr and could impact the running game for Josh Jacobs, the Raiders freed up $14 million in cap space, meaning there could be big moves coming.

With the Dallas Cowboys recently committing to Dak Prescott, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with the Russell Wilson sweepstakes. Wilson is only willing to waive his no-trade clause for four teams, and now one of them is off the table, with only the Raiders, Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints.

Only time will tell if the Raiders will make a play for Wilson or focus their efforts elsewhere with Carr under center.
