The Oakland Raiders announced on Wednesday that they have signed free agent defensive lineman Olsen Pierre and tight end Eric Tomlinson while also promoting cornerback Nick Nelson from the practice squad.
Pierre originally signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Miami in 2015. He has also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants in his career and in 33 games (eight starts), has recorded 50 tackles (35 solo), 7.5 sacks, two passes defensed and one forced fumble.
Tomlinson was also an undrafted free agent in 2015 that has carved out a nice career for himself. The former University of Texas El Paso tight end has played in 41 total games (31 starts) for the New York Jets, New York Giants and New England Patriots, bringing in 17 receptions for 194 yards and one touchdown.
With Foster Moreau being placed on IR after suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 14, Tomlinson will take over as the Raiders’ third tight end behind Darren Waller and Derek Carrier.
Nelson is a familiar face as the Raiders drafted him in the fourth round in 2018 out of Wisconsin. He appeared in 11 games (three starts) for the team as a rookie but wound up back on the practice squad after being cut at the end of training camp this past year.
Additionally, the Raiders made some changes to their practice squad by signing tight Paul Butler, linebacker Te’von Coney and offensive lineman Kyle Kalis. Tight end Cole Wick was released from the practice squad.
