For over a year now, Tom Brady has been trying to become a part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Now, it looks as if his former teammate on the New England Patriots, defensive lineman Richard Seymour, will be joining him on this ownership journey.

Seymour has his own history with the Raiders, having spent the final four seasons of his NFL career with the franchise after eight years with Brady and the Patriots. And now Seymour is looking to again join forces with Brady in their post-playing career.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Seymour is finalizing a deal to become an owner and partner of the Raiders, something that was initiated by current owner Mark Davis:

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Hall of Fame defensive lineman Richard Seymour is close to finalizing a deal to become an owner and limited partner of the Raiders.

If/when it becomes official, the arrangement will be the culmination of an effort that dates back to 2020, with owner Mark Davis continuing his father’s commitment to equality. It was Al Davis who was ahead of his (and the league’s) time when it comes to diversity, from hiring Tom Flores and Art Shell to coach the team to making Amy Trask the team’s president. It’s Mark Davis who initiated the effort to involve Seymour in ownership.

Should this deal come together, Seymour and Brady would own more than 10% of the franchise and the lineman’s involvement should also help ease concerns about Brady’s ownership bid:

Seymour, we’re told, will join forces with Brady. Together (and with their own partners) they would own 10.4 percent of the team.

The combination of Seymour and Brady is expected to resolve most of the concerns about Brady’s bid. Among other things, Mark Davis originally proposed giving Brady a steep discount over market value. That didn’t fly with the other owners.

The hope now is that this will finally resolve this saga that has been dragged out long enough. Brady and the Raiders have seemed to do everything they can to ease the concerns of the rest of the NFL owners, and Seymour may be the piece to finally take this deal over the finish line.

Raiders’ Maxx Crosby plans to have best season of his career in 2024

Much like Richard Seymour was during his time on the field, Maxx Crosby is an unstoppable force off the line for the Raiders. And despite all he’s accomplished, he is looking for even more in 2024.

Despite playing in all 17 games, Crosby dealt with a ton of injuries in 2023, and after some offseason surgeries, he is planning on having the best season of his career. Crosby said his goal is to be the best football player in the world and he is exhausting every resource this summer to make that happen.
