While the 2017 NFL season for the Oakland Raiders did not go the way most thought it would, there is still optimism going forward for the franchise as they recently named Jon Gruden as the team’s newest head coach. With Gruden back at the helm, the Raiders are poised for a bounce back 2018 NFL campaign.

Oakland has been busy the past week filling Gruden’s staff with assistants as several different names have been floated for different positions. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, it appears that the Raiders are bringing another familiar face back for the offensive line coach position:

Cable is an interesting choice here given he was let go by the team when he was the head coach back in 2010. Cable then spent the past several seasons with the Seattle Seahawks as an assistant head coach/offensive line coach.

The silver and black appear to be targeting people who have ties with the franchise or with Gruden, which makes sense given the value the franchise places on alumni. Still, Cable, along with the rest of the coaching staff, has their work cut out for them as the Raiders have plenty of needs and issues to address before the 2018 NFL season kicks off.
