The Las Vegas Raiders recently received a bit of an injury scare when it was reported that first-round draft pick Henry Ruggs III punctured his thigh while helping a friend move.
Ruggs’ father gave a positive update on the wide receiver, saying that he avoided serious injury, although there were still a ton of questions regarding what actually happened.
The Raiders took a big chance on Ruggs by selecting him 12th overall to lead their revamped wide receiving corps, so losing him before the season even started would be huge.
Luckily, there is now more clarity about the injury he suffered and while he did require stitches, he is still expected to be ready for training camp, per Adam Schefter of ESPN:
Raiders’ first-round pick Henry Ruggs, who was injured last month when he got pinned between a trailer and a car while helping a friend move, got stitches in his thigh but suffered no muscular damage and is expected to be ready for training camp whenever it begins, per source.

Ruggs was one of three new weapons the Raiders added to their organization in the 2020 NFL Draft along with Lynn Bowden Jr. and Bryan Edwards. Along with Tyrell Williams, Hunter Renfrow, Darren Waller, Josh Jacobs and others, that should make for a much-improved skilled position group in Las Vegas in 2020.
A thigh injury is obviously not ideal for someone like Ruggs who relies on his speed so heavily, but it is good to see that it is nothing serious and he will be able to get plenty of reps in during training camp to prepare for his rookie season.
