Coming off a rough 4-12 season, the Oakland Raiders were extremely active this offseason on the trade and free agent marks to bring in some veterans to create a winning culture.
One of the biggest of the acquisitions was offensive lineman Trent Brown, who Oakland signed to a record-breaking four-year, $66 million contract.
Brown is coming off a breakout season with the New England Patriots where he won a Super Bowl as the team’s starting left tackle.
He is obviously coming into a different situation with the Raiders, but he is still as eager as ever to continue to improve so he can win more Super Bowls, via Kyle Martin of Raiders.com:
“I mean, I just, I want more,” Brown told the media Sunday. “I feel like people think I’ll get the money and then just become lazy but no, I want another huge contract. I want more rings. You know what I mean? I want more of everything. I’m thirsty for it.”
Brown is expected to play right tackle on what is a new-look Raiders offensive line. Former first-round pick Kolton Miller will play left tackle.
What Brown can bring to the Raiders is not only stellar play on the field as one of the best offensive lineman in the league but also a championship mentality in the locker room, which is something the team definitely needs coming off a rough year.
Between the additions of Brown and All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown and drafting running back Josh Jacobs, the Raiders offense should be much-improved this season.
