The Oakland Raiders only have to wait a little less than two weeks to prove to themselves and the rest of the NFL that they are indeed the Super Bowl contenders they have been touted to be. The 2017 NFL season is nearly underway and the Raiders are in a good position to take the AFC West title.

Despite the silver and black’s preseason struggles, the optimism in the Bay Area is still strong as the team is healthy and already gelling on the offensive end. Derek Carr has looked good in his brief appearances on the field and early signs from Marshawn Lynch have been positive as he still has some of his burst and power running the ball.

However, the Raiders decided it would be a good idea to shore up their receiving corps because according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, they have agreed on a deal with wide receiver Seth Roberts:

Signing Roberts to a deal like this shows Oakland’s confidence in the young receiver. The 26-year-old has flashed a bit of playmaking in his brief career, but is still a solid player to have behind fellow wide receivers Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree.

Despite slotting in as the third receiver behind his talented teammates, Roberts still has utility on a deep Raiders offensive attack as a downfield threat for Carr. By signing the undrafted receiver to a three-year deal, the Raiders are comfortable with their receiving group going forward and it should be fun to see the team put up points in a hurry.
