The NFL announced that Oakland Raiders offensive lineman Richie Incognito has been suspended two games without pay for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Incognito can participate in Training Camp and preseason, But he will be out for the first two games of the 2019 season.
The Raiders signed Incognito to a one-year contract this offseason and were well-aware that he could potentially be suspended when they inked the contract.
Incognito has been involved in a number of off-field issues throughout the course of his career, but this suspension was due to an incident in which he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct last month following an arrest at an Arizona funeral home after his father’s death in Aug. 2018. Reports indicated he threatened to shoot the staff at a mortuary as arrangements were being made.
When Incognito returns from the suspension, he is expected to be the Raiders’ starting left guard. In the meantime, Denzelle Good will likely start in his position. Oakland hosts division-rivals in the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs in the first two weeks of the season.
The Raiders offensive line is expected to look a lot different this season after the additions of Incognito and Trent Brown. Second-year tackle Kolton Miller is expected to stay on the left side with Incognito, while Brown will move to right tackle.
