Maxx Crosby has been very outspoken about the things he has wanted to see from the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. One of those things was for the team to retain running back Josh Jacobs, but that didn’t happen as Jacobs agreed on a deal to join the Green Bay Packers.
Jacobs and Crosby came into the Raiders franchise together with both being drafted by the franchise in 2019 and doing everything they could to help turn the Raiders franchise around. But even though they are now on different teams, the connection between them won’t change.
Crosby took to social media to make a post bidding farewell to Jacobs and making sure the Packers and their fans know the player and person they are getting in the former Raiders running back:

It is always unfortunate for a player who has been a pillar of a franchise to go elsewhere in free agency. Jacobs has been excellent throughout his time with the Raiders and has built many relationships within that locker room, but unfortunately, it was simply time for the two sides to go their separate ways.
Crosby views Jacobs as a brother and obviously preferred for him to remain with the silver and black, but many felt it was a foregone conclusion that the back would leave this offseason. After Jacobs was unable to receive the long-term contract he hoped for from the Raiders last offseason, the clock seemed to be ticking.
Now the Raiders will have to find a new lead back whether it be via free agency or the draft. Zamir White was the backup to Jacobs last season and totaled 451 yards and one touchdown.
Raiders make major additions on first day of free agency
While the Raiders did lose Josh Jacobs, the team did make some huge additions on the first day of free agency as well.
The first big move came on defense as the team signed defensive tackle Christian Wilkins to a four-year deal worth $110 million. The move gives Maxx Crosby some much-needed help on the defensive line as Wilkins has been one of the best interior linemen in the NFL over the past couple of seasons.
On offense, the team added a veteran quarterback, Gardner Minshew, who agreed to join the silver and black on a two-year, $25 million deal. Minshew is a solid quarterback who has proven he can succeed at the NFL level on multiple teams. He is likely to battle for the starting job with Aidan O’Connell and anyone the team may draft.
