During the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2, left guard Lucas Nix went down with an ankle injury and headed to the sidelines. Nix was one of three players that didn’t practice on Wednesday according to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com:
Oakland Raiders left guard Lucas Nix, who was pulled in the third quarter of Sunday’s home-opening win against Jacksonville due to a combination of an ankle injury and ineffectiveness, was an observer during the media window at practice Wednesday.
Along with Nix, the Raiders were without Menelik Watson (knee) and Sebastian Janikowski (calf). Watson will be out at least a few more games after undergoing knee surgery while Janikowski has been dealing with a nagging calif injury.
Although Janikowski missed two field goals in the last two games, uncharacteristic to say the least, the veteran kicker connected on four straight helping lead the Raiders to victory over the Jaguars last Sunday.
As for Nix, the veteran guard may have lost his job to Andre Gurode following the injury and being taken out of last week’s game for ineffectiveness. Gurode may not be the player of old, but has an impressive resume as a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro.
