The Las Vegas Raiders have re-signed linebacker and special teams player Kyle Wilber, per the team’s transaction page. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Wilber originally was a fourth-round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2014 out of Wake Forest. After spending his first six NFL seasons with the Cowboys, the Raiders originally signed Wilber to a two-year contract before the start of the 2018 season.

In two seasons with the Raiders, Wilber has played in 28 games and recorded 21 total tackles and two passes defensed. His main impact has come on special teams, but he finally got a chance to start at linebacker in Week 17 of the 2019 season against the Denver Broncos.

It’s no secret that the Raiders have needed help at the linebacker position for years, and they finally addressed that this offseason with the signings of Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkoski.

They still could use even more depth at the position though, which is likely part of the reason they brought Wilber back. The 30-year-old brings a veteran presence to the locker room and is a key piece on special teams. He likely won’t see much time on defense in 2020, but can step in if needed to fill that role.
