The Las Vegas Raiders dropped a bombshell this week with the news that the team was releasing three-time Pro Bowl center Rodney Hudson. Now it appears Hudson was the one that asked for the release, but the team was able to trade him to the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Raiders will trade Hudson and a seventh-round draft pick to Arizona, with Las Vegas receiving a third-round pick in return for the veteran center.

Along with trading Hudson to the Cardinals, the Raiders appear to be working on moving Gabe Jackson as well. Jackson was reportedly set to be released.

With this offensive line overhaul, it appears the Raiders are valuing draft picks. It’ll be interesting to see whether they keep these draft picks are combine them in an effort to make a blockbuster trade.

One thing the Raiders had going for them coming into this free agency period was one of the better offensive lines in the NFL. That’s no longer the case, and it seems as though they won’t sign Kyle Long, who visited Las Vegas this week, as he plans to come out of retirement.

There may be a master plan behind all these questionable moves by the Raiders, with head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock hoping to put something together in order to compete next season or in the near future.
