A few weeks after the 2021 NFL Draft officially came to a close, the Las Vegas Raiders have begun signing rookies they selected. The first two to get signed from his year’s draft choices are Jimmy Morrissey and Tyree Gillespie.

The Raiders sent out two press releases and took to Twitter on Monday morning to announce that both players have officially inked rookie deals with the team.

The Raiders also drafted Alex Leatherwood, Trevon Moehrig, Malcolm Koonce, Divine Deablo and Nate Hobbs, along with Morrissey and Gillespie. Outside of the addition of Morrissey and Leatherwood to what will be a revamped offensive line, the Raiders had a clear goal of upgrading the defensive side of the football during the draft.

It’ll be interesting to see which players out of this draft class for the Raiders make an immediate impact. There’s no question that Moehrig is among the most intriguing additions, with the secondary being a major concern for the Silver and Black, but there’s no doubt that quite a few of these draft picks could get an opportunity sooner rather than later if they prove their worth leading up to the start of the 2021 campaign.

The Raiders will get their first look at the majority, if not all of these rookies during the NFL preseason, which will get underway for Las Vegas against the Seattle Seahawks on a date that has still yet to be determined. The storied franchise will also face the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers on the road before getting the regular season underway on Sept. 13 at Allegiant Stadium by taking on Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens.
