After the Los Angeles Chargers got the best of the Las Vegas Raiders back in October, defensive end Joey Bosa made some interesting comments about Derek Carr that didn’t sit well with the veteran quarterback.
Ahead of the win-or-go-home matchup in Week 18 between the division rivals, Bosa seemingly doubled down on his criticism of Carr. The Chargers star believes the Raiders gunslinger shuts down when pressed by an opposing defensive line, via Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
“I’m a fan of him,” Bosa said of Carr. “I think we get along. I was just pointing out something that I noticed. When he gets pressured, he seems to shut down a little bit. Seems like a lot of quarterbacks do that. He’s one of the top passers in the league.”
These two AFC West division rivals will go head to head with a playoff spot on the line on Sunday. Both teams have had an up and down season for different reasons, but their postseason hopes are still very much alive, and Bosa may have made things that much interesting.
Carr didn’t take kindly to Bosa’s comments about him getting rattled by pressure earlier in the season and will likely be that much more upset about his comments this time around with the playoffs on the line.
Although Bosa did say Carr is one of the best passers in the NFL today, the former Defensive Rookie of the Year provided the ideal bulletin board material for the Raiders’ leader under center. Still, it remains to be seen if Las Vegas and its star quarterback can take advantage.
