The Oakland Raiders have quickly settled in as one of the up-and-coming elite teams in the NFL. After a long stretch of poor regular season showings, the Raiders are finally heading in the right direction following their first playoff appearance in more than a decade.

Derek Carr and Khalil Mack are two of the most promising young superstars in the league and Oakland has done a good job of building around the two. Carr and Mack set the tone for the team and have set the Raiders up for sustained success. In an exclusive interview with Ryan Ward of AXS, Donald Penn believes the two still have more to offer:

“I don’t think they’ve reached their full potential yet,” Penn said of Mack and Carr. “They’re still getting better and still learning the game. Still working hard. Still learning each other. Khalil is learning how to take care of his body. DC had a little injury last year, so we’ve got to learn how to pickup was ever to happen to them. Nothing is going to happen to DC again, though.”

Penn’s comments about Carr and Mack leave the silver and black fanbase with plenty of optimism for the team’s future. Mack was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year award while Carr finished third in the Most Valuable Player award behind only Matt Ryan and Tom Brady.

Players of that caliber with room to improve speak volumes about their talent. If Penn is right, the Raiders have a potential dynasty on their hands.
