After a thrilling Week 7 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Oakland Raiders looked to finally be back on track during the 2017 NFL season. However, those feelings quickly evaporated after the Raiders dropped their Week 8 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Despite jettisoning some talented players, Buffalo has managed to remain competitive with their defense. The Raiders had trouble moving the chains against the Bills and only managed to put up
14 points.
According to Raiders, Derek Carr is not worried about the team’s troubling 3-5 start:
No one thought that, especially with the kind of guys we have and how we work,” Carr said of the losing record, per the team’s official website. “Where do we go from here? We do the same thing that we always do. We work.”
Carr also added that he is diligently working on improving his own game:
I’m going to make my corrections. I’m going to get better. There won’t be a day when I stop working to be a better version of myself, so I’m going to keep working and I will get better.”
The rising quarterback did not have his best game in Week 8 as he threw for 313 yards and a touchdown but also gave up two interceptions. Jack Del Rio has no problem calling Carr the “triggerman” for the offense, but the signal caller will need to play better if the Raiders hope to succeed.
It has been an inconsistent season for the silver and black but there is still hope for a playoff appearance. They have an opportunity to bounce back in Week 9 against an offensively challenged Miami Dolphins team.
