The Las Vegas Raiders watched their rivals stack the deck before making their first big-wave move, signing former All-Pro pass rusher Chandler Jones from the Arizona Cardinals. With the edges of the defense set, the Raiders’ next move was to boost the offense, and they did so in a huge way when they traded for Davante Adams. Adams had been linked to the Silver and Black for a couple of seasons now, and the two sides finally get their wish ahead of the 2022 season.

The last piece remaining for Las Vegas was Derek Carr and his contract, as he was eligible for an extension. After some speculation that the new management would take a wait-and-see approach, they rewarded Carr with a lucrative three-year, $121.5 million extension.

It is a welcomed development for the Raiders, who keep their quarterback in tow for the new future, and Carr himself said that he was dead set on remaining with the franchise via Nick Shook of NFL.com:

“I’ve only wanted to be a Raider,” Carr said in a press conference. “And I told my agent, I said ‘I’m either going to be a Raider or I’m going to be playing golf, like I don’t want to be playing anywhere else.’ That’s how much this place means to me.”

Carr has repeatedly stated how much he loves playing for the Raiders, so it is good to see the organization doing right by him. Despite the up-and-down 2021 campaign for Las Vegas, Carr was able to keep the team together through difficult stretches and lead them to a Wild Card appearance.

With new weapons on both sides of the field, the Raiders are poised to finally make some postseason noise, and it will be exciting to see how this roster looks come fall.
