Raiders News: Derek Carr ‘Looking Forward’ To Move To Las Vegas

The Oakland Raiders had a rough end to the 2019 NFL season, losing five of their final six games, including a heartbreaking loss to the Denver Broncos in the finale.

The Raiders are now left with plenty of speculation regarding their personnel before kicking things off in the new stadium following their relocation to Las Vegas in the offseason. Quarterback Derek Carr is well-aware of all the scrutiny he will be under.

It is no secret that the team endured a rough final season in Oakland with Carr receiving his fair share of flak for their shortcomings. Regardless, this has not deterred him from looking forward to what is to come.

According to Matt Kawahara of The San Francisco Chronicle,, Carr is still optimistic about his future with the Raiders after having a talk with the coaching staff:

Carr added that he is excited to get a fresh start in Las Vegas in 2020:

Carr enjoyed a solid 2019 campaign from a statistical standpoint by reaching career-highs in passing yards (4,054), yards per attempt (7.9) and completion percentage (70.9). Perhaps even more impressive is that he managed to do it with a depleted receiving corps and an injured backfield down the stretch.

Unfortunately, his numbers did not translate into much success as the Raiders finished with a 7-9 record and they had more than enough chances to take control of their own playoff destiny. To make matters worse, the last-minute loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the final home game at the Oakland Coliseum seemingly left a bad taste in the mouths of fans that resorted to boos and throwing trash on the field.

Of course, there is no question that the disappointing year transcends far beyond Carr’s shortcomings. This team has a number of notable voids to fill if they hope to kick off the new era in Las Vegas in style.

Despite all the noise, Carr has seemingly embraced all the criticism that comes with being the Raiders’ franchise quarterback and he is hoping that the change of scenery is just what they need to spark a potential resurgence. It remains to be seen if he will be around long enough to see it unfold.
