The 2022 season got off to a rough start for the Las Vegas Raiders as they dropped their Week 1 matchup against their AFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Raiders got off to a slow start on both sides of the field before mounting a comeback in the fourth quarter to get within one score. Though it was a loss, Davante Adams’ debut couldn’t have gone any better as he recorded 10 receptions for 141 yards and one touchdown.

Las Vegas would’ve preferred to celebrate Adams’ big day with a win, but the star receiver looked at the positives from the game and expressed his optimism for the rest of the year.

“I look at it as something that’s encouraging because we beat ourselves today,” said Adams. “That’s not to take anything away from that team over there, because that’s a really good team, they did a lot of good things today, but you turn the ball over the way that we did today and you still have the opportunity to go down and win says a lot about you as a team, fighting through adversity and still our defense did it in the second half, we just got to find a way to take care of the ball a little bit better and go down there and win. So, I look at it as something we can feed off of moving forward and try to keep it as positive as possible.”

Derek Carr was picked off three times which helped the Chargers lead throughout the game, but despite those, the team did a good job of fighting back. New teams will need time to gel together before hitting their stride, and with Adams looking as dominant as ever, the Raiders have a good shot of turning things around quickly.
