Monday Night Football might be emotional for Davante Adams as his former team, the Green Bay Packers, come to town to play the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.

Adams requested a trade from the Packer to come back to the West Coast and play near his family, and he got his wish. However, his Las Vegas tenure hasn’t gone quite according to plan, as his best friend Derek Carr was released, and the Raiders look like they might miss the postseason for the second consecutive season.

Meanwhile, Green Bay has been pretty competitive, with Jordan Love taking over for Aaron Rodgers under center. The Packers sit at 2-2 during the 2023 season and are in the mix for the NFC North crown.

Although Adams no longer wanted to play for the iconic franchise, he said that he’s still has love for his former team via Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk:

“Wasn’t some big crazy breakup that people thought it was,” Adams said. “Obviously it felt like it just because everything seemed good a week ago and then I was gone. There’s a lot of mutual love and respect between the Packers and I.”

As far as what it might feel like to play the Packers, Adams admitted that any feelings he has will disappear once things kick-off:

“That’s the part leading up to it,” Adams said. “Once the game starts, it’s just like every other game. It’s not gonna be a lot of emotion and that other stuff tied up in it once the clock is ticking.”

Any time a star player gets to play his old team, it can stir up plenty of mixed emotions, but it sounds like Adams understands the task at hand and won’t let the Packers affect his approach to their matchup. For Adams, it might even be a little easier to see them on the opposite side of the line of scrimmage because so many of the faces have changed since he was there.

The Raiders may not be where they want to be right now, but they should have a chance to right the ship at home, especially if Adams is on his A-game.

Davante Adams not looking to get traded

Adams must be feeling the frustrations of losing so much, and fans have speculated he could eventually ask out. However, the sense is that the star receiver is intent on staying in Las Vegas.
