The Las Vegas Raiders had a rough 2022 season as they missed the postseason again despite acquiring Davante Adams in the offseason.

Trading for Adams seemed to mark a shift in the Raiders’ fortunes, though even the star wide receiver was unable to get them to the playoffs. However, he definitely did everything asked of him, and his efforts resulted in 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns. His on-field production led to his third consecutive First-team All-Pro honor as well as his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl nod.

While Adams’ on-field production didn’t take a dip, his reputation among fans might have after an incident back in October where he shoved a cameraman named Ryan Zebley as he was walking off the field following a narrow loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Raiders star quickly apologized for the incident when he met with the media and even tweeted out an apology that he later deleted, but was still charged with misdemeanor assault.

After the incident occurred, Adams wasn’t suspended by the NFL though he was later set for a court appearance on June 26. However, it seems the charge against Adams has been dropped via ESPN:

An assault charge against Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams for shoving a credentialed media worker in Kansas City after an October game has been dropped.

A spokesperson for the Kansas City municipal court told The Kansas City Star on Friday that a prosecutor had dismissed the misdemeanor charge June 5 and that the case was closed.

Although the assault charge has been dropped, Zebley still has a civil case open against Adams, the Raiders and the Chiefs that is still pending. The suit also named the Jackson Sports Complex Authority and Landmark Event Staffing Services as defendants.

It’s good news for Adams that he’s not facing any sort of criminal consequences, though he and the other parties will need to wait and see what comes of the civil case. Hopefully everything is solved soon and he and Las Vegas can just focus on the upcoming 2023 season.

Davante Adams believes All-Pro season proves he doesn’t need Aaron Rodgers

There was an open question as to how Adams would look not catching passes from Aaron Rodgers. Derek Carr was a clear step below Rodgers in the quarterback tier rankings, though in a fun turn of events, it was Adams who made Rodgers look like he needed him more.

In that vein, Adams believes the season he turned in for the Raiders proved he didn’t need Rodgers to be successful.
