With the AFC West stockpiling talent left and right, Las Vegas Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler knew the team needed to make a splash move of their own.
Ziegler immediately made his mark with the Raiders when he managed to acquire Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for their 2022 first and second-round picks. However, Ziegler did not stop there as he also managed to get Adams to sign a three-year, $67.5 million extension that ties him to the Silver and Black for the foreseeable future.
Adams is widely regarded as the best wide receiver in the NFL, and even though he has not been with the Raiders long, Ziegler is already impressed with what he has seen from his new star. “Davante is a worker, and he comes in with a purpose every day to get better,” Ziegler said. “And so, he’s just a dialed-in person. For him, this is something that he loves to do, but this is a business for him, and it’s a job that he takes very seriously. And he comes in with that approach.
“I mean, this guy comes in with an approach to win the day and to get better individually. And it’s an approach that I think is really good for our young players to see. This guy is highly accomplished. He’s been very productive in his career. There’s a reason for all those things, and you kind of see that in his approach day to day.”
Adams has done well to establish himself as one of the premier receivers in the league, and all the work he puts in behind the scenes is paying off in spades. With Las Vegas desperate to make a Super Bowl appearance, Adams will be leaned upon heavily to help take them there, and it will be exciting to see him try.
