Raiders News: Antonio Brown Responds To Ben Roethlisberger’s Comments Saying They Were Never Friends

Ben Roethlisberger recently expressed tremendous regret for calling out Antonio Brown because of the strain it ultimately had on their relationship both on and off the field.

The fallout between them resulted in some significant changes for both the Oakland Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers heading into the 2019 NFL season. Roethlisberger has now brought attention to the matter once again by suggesting that he should not have gone about it the way he did.

His comments appear to be an attempt to extend an olive branch to his former teammate. It is safe to say that it has fallen on deaf ears.

Brown provided a rather savage response to the matter on his Twitter account by saying that the two had never been friends and tell him to shut up:

The response by Brown should hardly come as any surprise since he has seemingly taken advantage of every opportunity to call out his former teammates on social media. The most notable being when he slammed JuJu Smith-Schuster for fumbling the ball with the playoffs on the line.

Roethlisberger had called Brown out amidst their struggles during the 2018 NFL season and it seemingly served as the catalyst for his eventual departure. There has since been no shortage of headlines surrounding all that transpired between the two.

Brown’s tweet indicates that he has no interest in trying to repair anything that he and Roethlisberger may or may not have shared during their nine seasons together in Pittsburgh. Regardless, there is no denying that he took advantage of all the perks that come with playing alongside a potential Hall of Famer.

The former Central Michigan product was a sixth-round pick in 2010 NFL Draft when he arrived in Pittsburgh having to compete for a spot on the 53-man roster. He made the most of his opportunity by emerging as Roethlisberger’s No. 1 option in just his second year in the NFL and it was not long before the Steelers were forced to start paying him like one.

Brown’s response suggests that he is ready to begin a new chapter in his illustrious career with the Raiders. Unfortunately, he has struggled to make the most of his fresh start in Oakland after missing the bulk of training camp while dealing with his frostbitten feet and the multiple helmet grievances against the NFL.

There will always be speculation about the fallout between Brown and the Steelers, however, those involved would be wise not to expect any regret from his side.
