After weeks of uncertainty, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers finally waived quarterback Josh Freeman on Thursday. With Tampa Bay paying $6 million to part ways with Freeman, he is now a free agent and the Oakland Raiders have expressed interest.

While starter Terrelle Pryor has been a pleasant surprise for the Raiders, the team is still looking for a backup since Matt Flynn demonstrated in Week 4 against the Washington Redskins that he’s not a viable option.

With ties to offensive coordinator Greg Olson, Freeman has also expressed interest in reuniting with Olson and playing for Raider Nation by way of text message to a Bay Area radio show, 97.5 The Game during one of their broadcasts.

Freeman appears to be the ideal candidate to backup Terrelle Pryor and Olson has already mentioned that he has always been a fan of the recently released Buccaneers quarterback.
