The Las Vegas Raiders kicked off training camp this week, making them one step closer to what is setting up to be an exciting 2024 season.

After years of mediocrity, the Raiders seem to have a clear plan in place after installing Antonio Pierce and Tom Telesco as their new head coach and general manager, respectively. So far, Pierce has been vocal about wanting to be a more physical and gritty team in all phases and the roster reflects that as they’ve got several players who aren’t afraid to mix it up on the field.

The biggest question about the roster is who will start at quarterback between Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew, but outside of that the players already seem to be fitted into their roles. Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers should operate as the main pass-catching options while Maxx Crosby and Christian Wilkins will be counted on to generate pressure and get after opposing quarterbacks.

While training camp is already in motion, the team is still in search of players who can contribute this season, and to that end, the Raiders announced they signed Keelan Doss and Corey Luciano.

Doss is the more familiar name for Las Vegas as he’s had multiple stints with the franchise, dating back to 2019 when he originally signed onto the practice squad after going undrafted. After a few more stops around the league, he now finds himself back on the roster where he has a legitimate shot to compete for a spot.

Meanwhile, Luciano, an undrafted free agent like Doss, has experience at the professional level and could be a decent depth piece for the offensive line. The trenches already seem to be set, but there’s always room for an offensive lineman on the roster.

While both players are up against it as far as making the final 53-man roster, it’s good to see the Raiders doing their due diligence. Normally, these moves don’t pan out, but Doss and Luciano are low-risk signings that could end up paying dividends if things break right.

Michael Gallup retires before start of Raiders training camp

The receiver corps already seems to be set behind Adams and Meyers, but the wideout room had room for someone like Doss after Michael Gallup announced his retirement from the NFL.
