Raiders Injury News: Gabe Jackson And Clelin Ferrell Back At Practice, Tyrell Williams Still Out

The Oakland Raiders are set to kick off a two-game road trip that starts with a matchup against the Green Bay Packers in Week 7 of the 2019 NFL season.

Oakland went into their bye week dealing with a number of key injuries following an impressive start to the year. Fortunately, the extra time off has allowed them ample time to recover for what is slated to be a compelling matchup in Green Bay.

The Raiders managed to put together back-to-back wins before the bye and now have an opportunity to move into the top spot of the AFC West Division if the Kansas City Chiefs are unable to end their two-game skid on a short week against the Denver Broncos. It appears some reinforcements could be on the way to help them get a winning streak started versus the Packers.

The offensive line may be close to returning to full strength after right guard Gabe Jackson was able to practice, via Scott Bair of NBC Sports:

Gabe Jackson was back at Raiders practice Monday, a sign that the offensive line nearly is whole.

Jackson has been sidelined since before the start of the preseason after tearing his MCL during a joint practice session with the Los Angeles Rams. The offensive line has shown some notable improvement in his absence, however, his return should undoubtedly help to fortify the protection for quarterback Derek Carr alongside right tackle Trent Brown.

Defensive end Clelin Ferrell was also able to make his return after being cleared from the NFL’s concussion protocol:

Raiders defensive end Clelin Ferrell was cleared to practice Monday after missing last week’s game against Chicago while in the NFL’s concussion protocol. That’s a positive sign he’ll be ready to face the Packers and occupy an important role along the defensive front.

Ferrell was unable to take part in the team’s trip to London to be the Chicago Bears in Week 5. Fortunately, his status now puts him on track to be available in Green Bay.

Unfortunately, wide receiver Tyrell Williams is still sidelined with a foot injury:

Receiver Tyrell Williams remains out with a foot injury, though he was present during practice as a non-participant.

Despite Williams’ absence, this is still an encouraging update for Oakland. The looming return of both Jackson and Ferrell will help to shore up the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

Meanwhile, the receiving corps still has yet to recover from the recent rash of injuries. His absence will once again leave Carr without his most viable weapon in the passing game.
