NFL News: Raiders Acquire Marshawn Lynch From Seahawks

After plenty of speculation and uncertainty regarding Marshawn Lynch’s playing future, it appears the saga is finally over.

According to Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Oakland has finally struck a deal to acquire Lynch from the Seattle Seahawks:

Lynch’s representatives and the Raiders have agreed to terms on a contract, and the team has hashed out the details of a trade for Lynch’s rights with the Seahawks, multiple sources informed of the negotiations on both sides of the deal said.

Garafolo and Rapaport also shed light on the terms of the trade between the Raiders and Seahawks in the 2018 NFL Draft:

The draft compensation will be a swap of late-round picks in 2018. Seattle gets Oakland’s fifth-round pick in exchange for the Seahawks’ sixth-round pick, according to someone informed of the agreement.

The deal is contingent upon Lynch’s ability to pass a physical with the Raiders, but people close to the situation are reportedly confident that the necessary steps to bring Beast Mode to Oakland will be completed. If Lynch does indeed become a Raider, the terms of his contract are favorable as he is set to make a base salary of $3 million with a bonus of $2 million if he manages to gain 1,000 yards. He figures to start right away for the team as former starter Latavius Murray agreed to a deal with the Minnesota Vikings earlier in free agency.

This is a major win for a franchise that is on the rise as Lynch will provide veteran experience at a position of need. If he is able to return close to his peak, the Raiders will have made their offensive attack even more explosive, allowing the fans to sit back and enjoy the fireworks.
