Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) runs out on to the field as he is announced against the Detroit Lions during their football game Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. Apc Packvsdetroit 0108230308djpa

The Las Vegas Raiders will need to make a crucial decision at quarterback before the 2023 season starts as they’ve already decided they’ll be parting ways with Derek Carr.

Carr has served the franchise admirably for years, but their time together is coming to a close after another disappointing finish to the season. As for who will be replacing Carr is anyone’s guess, but the smart money would be on a veteran quarterback considering the Raiders are looking to win right away.

There’s been plenty of buzz in recent weeks about the possibility of Aaron Rodgers coming to town as he and the Green Bay Packers also seem to be on different pages as of late. Rodgers would fit the bill for the Raiders but they and the rest of the league will need to wait as Rodgers revealed on the “Pat McAfee Show” that he is set to embark on a four-day retreat to figure out his future as transcribed by via Levi Damien of USA Today:

“It’s going to be important to get through this week and then to take my isolation retreat and just to be able to contemplate all things my future and then make a decision that I feel like is best for me moving forward in the highest interest of my happiness and then move forward.”

“It’s a darkness retreat. I’ve had a number of friends who’ve done it and had some profound experiences. It’s something that’s been on my radar for a few years now and I felt like would be awesome to do regardless of where I was leaning after this season.”

Rodgers has a knack for stirring up the drama and speculation when it comes to his playing future, though this time it feels like there’s a real chance he can leave Green Bay. The Packers missed the playoffs after struggling out of the gate, perhaps a consequence of them trading away Rodgers’ favorite target Davante Adams to the Raiders.

Adams has not been shy about his desire to reunite with Rodgers, calling it a dream scenario to have the signal caller throwing to him again. Adams has also left several hints about the possibility of Rodgers joining him in Sin City on social media, though that could simply be him wishfully thinking.

Regardless of what Rodgers decides, the Silver and Black must be judicious when determining who to hand the offense to for next season. Rodgers or not, the Raiders know they’ve got to get back to winning sooner rather than later.
