NFL Draft News: Raiders Taking Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins Through Private Workouts

With the NFL Draft just a few short weeks away, a lot of buzz is starting to surround the Oakland Raiders as they hold eight total picks with three of them being in the first round.

The Raiders have their own first-round pick, which is No. 4 after a 4-12 season, and then they also have the Chicago Bears’ (No. 24) and Dallas Cowboys’ (No. 27) as well for the Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper trades, respectively.

Raiders general manager Mike Mayock has come out publically to say that he views Derek Carr as a franchise quarterback, but that does not mean it is going to stop the Raiders from doing their due diligence.

According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Raiders are traveling to put former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray and former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins through private workouts:

Murray and Haskins are the two best quarterbacks in this year’s draft, so they would be targets for the Raiders to use their No. 4 pick on if they decide to go that route. The Arizona Cardinals hold the No. 1 overall pick and may be targeting Murray though, so he likely is an unrealistic option unless Oakland trades up.

If the Raiders were to take a quarterback in the first round then that would make Carr’s future with the franchise a bit cloudy despite being under contract for four more seasons.

Given that the Raiders have a variety of other needs, with pass rusher being chief among them, the likelihood of them spending a high pick on a quarterback is unlikely unless either Murray or Haskins blows them away during the workouts.
