Karl Joseph Thanks Raiders Organization, Teammates & Fans After Signing With Browns
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders’ roster has undergone a number of changes since the start of NFL free agency, most notably on the defensive side of the ball.

Among the additions on defense are linebackers Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkoski, cornerback Eli Apple, edge rusher Carl Nassib, defensive tackle Maliek Collins and safety Jeff Heath.

With the Raiders using so much of their cap space to sign players from outside the organization, they decided not to keep one of their own free agents in safety Karl Joseph. The former first-round pick ended up signing a one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns.

The Raiders are the only organization that Joseph has known in his NFL career, so he took to Instagram to thank them, his former teammates and the fans for treating him so well during his time with the team:

Thank you to the entire Raiders organization for giving me the opportunity to live out my dreams. These past 4 years have been filled with a lot of ups and downs, didn’t accomplish everything we wanted but I’m grateful for it all because I’m leaving a better man than when I came in as that 22yr old kid out of college. What I’m most Grateful for is the relationships I’ve made in the Bay Area, and within that building from the coaches, to the trainers, to our equipment guys, our cafeteria staff, media staff, janitors thank yall for everything, and especially my teammates love y’all boys. To #RaiderNation one of the best and most loyal fan base in all of sports I truly appreciate all the support win, lose or draw, love y’all forever ☠️

In nine games for the Raiders in 2019, he had 49 total tackles, three passes defensed and a fumble recovery. He was in the midst of a career year before going down with a season-ending foot injury in Week 10, marking the end of his tenure with the Raiders.

A one-year deal coming off an injury is perfect for Joseph as he has the chance to prove that he is healthy before reentering the market next offseason. He is still just 26 years of age, so his best football could very well be in front of him.
