Jon Gruden Says Raiders ‘Have A Lot Of Work To Do Here’ After 0-3 Start

The Oakland Raiders’ woes continued in a 28-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium. For the third consecutive week, a fourth quarter collapse prevented the team from tallying its first win of the 2018 NFL season.

Among the late-game mishaps included a red zone turnover by Derek Carr, as well as the defense yielding 52-yard and 74-yard touchdown passes on the opposite end.

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden conceded that his players still have plenty of work to do, but will nevertheless keep grinding with an eye on turning their season around, accordinig to Albert Gregory of Raiders Wire:

“We have a lot of work to do here and we’re going to continue to work,” Gruden said when asked about his level of disappointment during his post-game press conference following the loss. “We played three good football teams and we played them hard. But we got a lot of work to do here, we’ll continue to work and we’ll get this show on the road here hopefully soon.”

While the end result was not ideal, the Raiders can take solace in the fact that they once again performed well in the first half.

The team put points on the board in their opening drive for a third straight game, which was followed by the defense forcing a three-and-out on the Dolphins’ first drive.

Another bright spot was Jordy Nelson, who turned back the clock and recorded his first 100-yard performance in nearly two seasons. Moreover, the Raiders’ run defense was excellent and limited Frank Gore to only 12 rushing yards.

Oakland looks to get back on track next Sunday when they return home and host the Baker Mayfield-led Cleveland Browns in Week 4.
