Under new head coach Antonio Pierce, the Las Vegas Raiders will be hoping to finally establish some stability at the position after years of drama and poor fits.

The Raiders cleaned house during the 2023 season as they got rid of former head coach Josh McDaniels who lost the locker room after weeks of losing. However, prior to McDaniels, there was an entire debacle with Jon Gruden, who was thought to be the organization’s savior when he originally signed back in 2018.

Gruden was a popular pick to become head coach after several years of missing out on the playoffs, and his 10-year deal was a monumental occasion for Las Vegas. However, Gruden stepped down midway through the 2021 season after a scandal involving emails regarding the Washington Commanders was leaked.

Gruden’s disgraceful exit from the NFL was highly publicized, but it seems that teams are still willing to bring him in on visits as he was recently spotted a Kansas City Chiefs training camp practice via PJ Green of Fox 4 Kansas City:

“Former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden attended training camp on Sunday for the team’s light, unpadded practice.”

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and Gruden are quite familiar with each other, having worked together and later coaching against each other:

“Gruden and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid have a long history.

The duo worked together from 1992-1994 under Mike Holmgren for the Green Bay Packers. Gruden was an offensive assistant/quality control coach and wide receivers coach, and Reid was the assistant offensive line & tight ends coach from 1992-1996 before he was promoted to quarterbacks coach & assistant head coach.”

Gruden spent the 2023 season working as a consultant for the New Orleans Saints and most recently served as an advisor for Milano Seamen of the European League of Football.

His presence on the Chiefs’ practice field must be an odd sight for Raiders fans who have been open about their distaste for the Chiefs. However, he is most likely visiting with teams and providing some insight where he can.

In the meantime, Las Vegas has other things to worry about such as getting ready for an important 2024 season where they have a chance to reestablish themselves in the AFC West.

Raiders mock Patrick Mahomes with Kermit the Frog puppet

At a recent Raiders training camp practice, a fan brought out a Kermit the Frog puppet to mock Patrick Mahomes. Clearly, there’s no love lost for Mahomes in Las Vegas.
