The Las Vegas Raiders have announced quarterback Derek Carr, center Rodney Hudson, defensive tackle Maliek Collins, linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski, safety Erik Harris and special teamer Kyle Wilber as their captains for the 2020 NFL season.

It comes as no surprise to see Carr and Hudson maintain their status as captains following an unprecedented offseason due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Carr has not been shy about firing back at all the naysayers that doubted his status as the Raiders’ long-term option under center. His newfound approach helped him establish himself as the clear-cut starter over quarterback Marcus Mariota and he will now be expected to lead this revamped offense to AFC contention at Allegiant Stadium this season.

Of course, Hudson remains as the anchor of one of the more talented offensive line groups in the NFL and his presence continues to serve as a stabilizing factor up front.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect about this group are the two free-agent additions that have managed to make their presence felt in the locker room during a challenging offseason.

Kwiatkoski has been tasked with serving as the shot-caller on the field for defensive coordinator Paul Guenther. It also appears that Collins has met the high expectations that were set on him by head coach Jon Gruden upon his arrival from the Dallas Cowboys alongside defensive line coach Rod Marinelli.

Harris being named a captain is indicative of his status as one of the most well-respected players in the organization. Meanwhile, this has been quite the turn of events for Wilber since he was named a team captain one day after being re-signed by the Raiders following their decision to place Mariota on the injured reserve list.
