Derek Carr has forever etched his name in the Oakland Raiders history books by becoming the franchise leader in passing yards. Carr passed Raiders legend Ken Stabler who previously was the organization’s all-time passing leader with 19,078 yards during Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Carr has achieved this feat in only 80 games, averaging just under 240 yards per game. Carr is only in his sixth season with the Raiders, meaning he will likely set a record that will not be broken for quite some time if he continues with the organization past this season.
The 28 year-old quarterback accomplished his monumental feat during the second quarter as he found tight end Darren Waller for a 16-yard reception, via the Raiders’ official Twitter:

Carr totaled 198 yards passing in the game to bring his career total to 19,196 yards. He currently is ranked as 116th on the NFL’s all-time passing list and is roughly 2,000 yards from breaking into the top 100, which could happen later this season.
Carr previously spoke about what it would mean to break the Raiders franchise passing record, stating he hoped to leave his mark on Raiders history.
Despite Carr breaking the record, the Raiders dropped their game to the Chiefs, 28-10, to move to 1-1 on the season. There were still some positives to take away from the game though as the Raiders are now focused on a road contest with the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday.
