It seems as if ever since Davante Adams joined the Las Vegas Raiders, rumors have been popping up about his potential departure. Despite his individual success, the Raiders as a whole have struggled to pick up wins and have yet to make the playoffs.
Not helping the situation is that Adams has had no issues speaking up about things that he is not a fan of with the Raiders. Adams discussing moves or strategies he was not a fan of led many to feel he was frustrated and was looking to leave the Raiders.
Even though Adams has said many times that he wants to be a Raiders, and GM Tom Telesco has said the team isn’t moving him, it hasn’t stopped many from speculating and teams from calling. But once again Adams has made it clear that he wants to stay with the Raiders and has no plans on leaving the franchise anytime soon, via Tashan Reed of The Athletic:
“If I wanted to be gone, I’d be gone by now,” Adams said. “This is where I want to be.”
It shouldn’t still need to be said, but obviously, Adams felt the need to re-iterate his desire to remain with the Raiders. Whether or not this will stop the rumors is unknown, but he can’t possibly be more clear about being happy where he is.
Now, for Adams at least, the focus is on turning things around for the Raiders and getting that team success everyone is looking for. One reason the locker room is more optimistic is because Antonio Pierce being named the head coach and Adams is looking forward to building off what the Raiders established last season:
“It’s already helped the morale of the team,” Adams said. “It’s what we were all looking for: To be able to continue with the same mindset that we had. That’s our guy. We’ve got to get to work now. … It’s about what we go out there and do.”
Now the time has come for the work to begin and Adams and the rest of the Raiders are ready to turn things around with Pierce at the helm pushing them all.
Adams is a focal point of the offense and will make life easier for whoever lines up under center for the Raiders. But one thing that is for sure is that he is a Raider and wants to remain with the Raiders for the foreseeable future.
Davante Adams calls Raiders teammate Jakobi Meyers the NFL’s ‘best-kept secret’
As amazing as Davante Adams has been, he isn’t the Raiders’ only offensive weapon. Jakobi Meyers is an excellent number-two option, and the star has benefitted from Meyers joining the team last year.
Adams spoke about always looking to learn and admitted to learning a lot from Meyers last season, even going so far as calling him the ‘best-kept secret’ in the NFL. Adams would even thank Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who was on the same interview, for letting Meyers go.
