The talk out of the Bay Area recently has been all about Jon Gruden being named the Oakland Raiders head coach. Gruden, who last coached in 2008 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has given the Raiders fan base a much-needed shot in the arm after the team’s disappointing 2017 NFL season.

Gruden’s arrival has seemingly energized Oakland’s former and current players, including Charles Woodson. According to Raiders, Woodson believes Gruden will get the players to perform at a high level:

He’s going to be very demanding of the team and that’s what they’ll have to be ready for,” said Woodson. “I think the guys, they’re a young team… they’re young, so I think they’re still young and impressionable, and Gruden will bring the best out of them.”

Jerry Rice stated that the team’s young players should be prepared when “Chucky” comes out, but agreed with Woodson that Gruden is a great choice to lead the team. While Gruden’s in-your-face style of coaching may worry some, his knowledge and experience with the silver and black more than justify his hiring.

There are plenty of holes on the Raiders’ roster that will need to be addressed in the offseason. However, things appear to be looking up for Oakland and its fans.
