Although the 2023 NFL season does not begin for almost four months, fans of the Las Vegas Raiders and the rest of the league got a jolt of excitement on Thursday, which was the annual schedule release day for all 32 teams.

The Raiders’ 17-game schedule includes their usual divisional opponents, some AFC powerhouses and nine games against teams that made the postseason last year. Based on last year’s winning percentages, Las Vegas has the 10th-hardest schedule in the NFL this season.

But, of course, some major changes were made to both Las Vegas and its opponents. Jimmy Garoppolo figures to be the Week 1 starter, becoming the first non-Derek Carr Week 1 Las Vegas starter since 2013.

Prior to any mid-season flexing, the Raiders have five primetime games, two Sunday Night Football appearances, two Monday Night Football games and one Thursday Night Football.

The Raiders face the Green Bay Packers, who made their own major change at QB, shipping Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets — who Las Vegas also plays — in favor of Jordan Love.

The Denver Broncos are on the Raiders schedule twice as an AFC West opponent, and they’re hoping for a better 2023 campaign after hiring Sean Payton as their new head coach.

Las Vegas plays nine home games and eight road games but play five of their eight games away from Allegiant Stadium in the first eight weeks.

The AFC is as tough as it has ever been and Las Vegas hoping to be in the thick of the playoff race.
